Where to Stay in Kea

Where to Stay in Kea — Hotels, Villas and Studios

Kea’s accommodation reflects its character: a range that runs from high-end luxury resorts and boutique villa complexes to simple family-run studios and a campsite (check current status). The main concentrations are at Korissia, Vourkari, Ioulida and Koundouros — each with a different atmosphere and set of advantages.

Choosing Where to Stay

Korissia is the most practical base — ferry connections, car rental, supermarkets and a beach are all within walking distance, making it ideal for visitors who want flexibility and easy access to the whole island. Vourkari is quieter and more atmospheric — the waterfront location and nearby restaurants suit travellers who want to relax by the harbour. Ioulida is the most beautiful setting but requires a car or the bus for beach access; it suits visitors who prioritise culture and village atmosphere. Koundouros suits those whose holiday centres on the beach and water sports — the facilities here are the most developed on the island.

Practical Notes

Kea does not have a large hotel stock compared to the famous tourist islands — this is part of its appeal but means that accommodation books up quickly for July and August weekends. If visiting in peak season, book at least 2–3 months ahead. Outside peak season, availability is generally good and prices are noticeably lower.

See the getting around page for car hire details — most visitors staying anywhere other than Korissia will want a rental car.
