Spathi Beach

Spathi is one of Kea’s most rewarding beaches: fine sand, clear turquoise water and a seasonal beach bar and restaurant, reached by a mostly unpaved road that keeps it quieter than its quality deserves.

The Beach

Spathi sits on the northeastern coast, around 13–14 km from Ioulida. The beach has lovely sand and a long, generous arc of clear water. It is partly organized in season, with sunbeds and umbrellas available from the beach bar; a restaurant sits just above the beach. Around 5 km of the route from the main road is a rough dirt track — manageable in a standard car but worth driving carefully. The remoteness is part of the appeal: Spathi rarely feels crowded even in high season.

Practical Notes

Because Spathi is far from the nearest shops, bring water and additional food if you plan a long day. Verify current facilities and opening dates before relying on the beach bar or restaurant, as these may have limited seasons. The beach bar offers snacks; the restaurant above is a more substantial option.

Getting There

By car from Ioulida: around 30 minutes, including the dirt-road section. There is no regular bus service to Spathi. The area is also connected to Panagia Kastriani via road, making a combined visit possible.
